Large text size is a requirement not an extra
It’s all too common these days. I click a link and I’m whisked to a dazzling site with a raptuous design. I think ‘wow! I wonder what this guy’s writing about?’ I scroll down to the text and squint. A lot.
What is it with web designers these days? I thought Web 2.0 signified the age of the consumer? Well any consumer faced with miniscule text isn’t going to believe the hype. It is not hard to make the text on your website bigger: just alter one value. If you’re using CSS you can set the site so it can easily accommodate larger text as standard. And still be gorgeous.
I’m wondering if there’s a secret underground anti-accessibility group blackmailing web designers. Big text is easy to set and almost as easy to incorporate in a good site design. What’s more your readers will thank you.
