Kasabian at Nottingham Arena!

The Fratellis were the support band and played a few lively tracks to whet the audience’s palette for the main event. Songs included ‘Whistle for the Choir‘ and ‘Chelsea Dagger‘.

After about an hour of time to set up Kasabian finally appeared. The white curtain on the stage dropped to reveal all five band members and a dazzling show of lights and smoke. Seriously people, don’t go to a Kasabian concert if you’re epileptic.

They played an epic instrumental to build the tension and then launched into ‘Shoot the Runner‘, one of the tracks off the new album. The lights were spectacular and the band were brilliant. Tom Meighan, the lead singer, showed incredible presence as he strutted across the stage and got us all on our feet.

An old favourite ‘Reason is Treason‘ followed and was a thumping success as the band displayed their remarkable talent.

The highlights of the night were later on. ‘Empire‘ the title track for their latest album got all 10,000 of us singing along, ‘British Legion’ was a refreshing breather and ‘Cutt Off‘ was spectacularly fist-in-the-air brilliant. All the tracks from the new album were played alongside the old favourites.

After about an hour the band had a small break. When they came back on they blew everyone away. The pulses were pumping as they played ‘Club Foot‘ but the highlight of the night was next. ‘Stuntman’, a fan favourite, electrified the stadium and drove everyone wild. It was the height of the band’s extensive mastery.

The band finished with an explosive performance of ‘L.S.F’. Everyone sang the band off after an breathtaking evening. I was left proud to be wearing the band t-shirt.
